Introduction to Brush Plating Technology

Edit:   Browse:1025  Date:2023-01-11

1、 The origin and development history of brush plating technology worldwide

Electro Brush Plating, also known as Brush Plating, originated from the Tampon Plating method adopted by the French in 1899. As a specialized technology, it was formed in Europe in the 1940s, and North America began in 1954. Between 1954 and 1964, some of the previously developed brush plating solutions were also patented in France, the United States, and the United Kingdom. In 1956, the earliest company engaged in brush plating in the United States was "Selectron Process", which translated into Chinese as "Celetron Company"; In 1965, the earliest French company engaged in brush plating was "Dalic Process", which translated into Chinese as "Dalic Company"; Since then, brush plating technology has also developed in the UK, Switzerland, the Soviet Union, and Japan. By the 1950s, a large number of industrial applications had been achieved in Europe and North America. The earliest industrial application in China also appeared in the 1950s, which was called coating. The large-scale promotion and application began in the 1980s, and has been widely used in many fields of industry and civil use, achieving huge economic benefits.

Brush plating still belongs to the field of electrodeposition, but its technical features are significantly different from traditional electroplating. Brush plating uses a dedicated power supply, plating pen, and brush plating solution, without the need for a conventional plating bath, so it is sometimes referred to as slotless plating. In the process of brush plating, the plating pen is wrapped with a cloth and kept in contact with the workpiece under a certain pressure for relative movement. The deposition process is intermittent and uses a high current density (usually 5-10 times that of slot plating). These basic characteristics determine a series of characteristics of brush plating power supply, brush plating solution, brush plating process, and brush plating application: good coating performance, high bonding strength, fast deposition speed, no thermal deformation of the workpiece, convenient construction, easy to master, low environmental pollution, low cost, good economic and technical benefits, and wide applicability.

2、 Brief Introduction to Brush Plating Technology

Brush plating, also known as metal coating, rapid electroplating, slotless electroplating, rapid pen plating, etc. in China.

Brush plating technology has a history of over 20 years in China, mainly used for repairing the surface of mechanical components, strengthening anti-corrosion, and requiring special functional modifications. Its practical application has proven that it has the following advantages: firstly, the equipment is mainly a dedicated power supply for brush plating, and the cost is low, and the equipment is simple; 2、 Due to the fact that the equipment is not complex and can be easily moved to the workpiece site for operation in practice, the process is flexible; 3、 The deposition speed of the coating is fast, there are many types of coatings, and the improved process can achieve a relatively high bonding strength between the coating and the substrate material; 4、 After plating, there is generally no need for mechanical processing; 5、 It has little environmental pollution and can be completely constructed in the city. It is the above advantages that quickly promoted the application range of brush plating, resulting in huge economic and social benefits, especially the characteristic of mechanical non disassembly repair and on-site repair, which can solve problems that cannot be solved by previous methods.

Its technology is now widespread
